If this shiraz was bottled under a northern Rhone appellation label like St. Joseph or Crozes-Hermitage, with a price...

South Africa continues to provide great value as exemplified in this excellent Shiraz for under $20. Intense aromas of dark cherries, charcuterie, smoke, vanilin, balsamic and loamy olive. Similar flavours on the palate, with bright acidity and velvety tannin. It's balanced and the high alcohol is warming without burn. Flavours linger on the palate. A touch oaky but overall checks typicity, intensity, balance, complexity and length. For under $20, can't be it. Nov. 2023.
Aromas of cherry, and dried herbs. The main issue with this wine is I felt it was too tannic and too acidic. It did smooth out a bit after about an hour but I still feel that this wine needs more time. Perhaps 3 more years before it starts to become more balanced.
Tasted September 2023.
