Beringer Merlot 2006, Napa Valley

Ripe, sweet baking spice and generous fruit on the nose, with plenty of plum, cherries in eau-de-vie, coffee liqueur,...
This is a very ripe, sweet black raspberry and plummy merlot with background vanilla and some tarry, chocolaty oak....

Complex aromas of cherries, plums, vanilla and earthy. Full bodied with nicely layered structure, concentrated fruit and grainy tannins.
Long drying finish, lovely wine. Was happy to find a couple more bottles even if this wine was release one month ago. Will lay it down for one to two years.
Tasted December 2010.

The 2006 Beringer Merlot is a medium bodied, integrated wine, with intense aromas of red currant, cherry, smoke, oak and vanilla. Tannins are refined (decant for 30 to 60 min) and the finish is long and a bit acidic. Good to drink now and will be 2012 to 2018. My impression: quite NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 90.5 pts. Tasted Dec/10.
