Lovely example of the the depth that malbec can achieve. Atypical of what is found in Argentina with its earthy, herbaceous, and floral aromas, yet there's the blackberry and dark fruit liqueur notes that have made Argentine malbec so popular. It's medium-full bodied with refreshing acidity and somewhat pronounced tannins and has long finish. It's not what you would call elegant, but it's truly a beautiful wine. This one would be even more lovely after a couple years in the cellar. Tasted January 2013.
Virtually opaque but bright crimson colour. Aromas of plum, blackberry fruit along with floral secondary notes (violet) underpinned by woody herbal notes. The palate is dry, smooth with a nice core of fruit, silky tannins (after some breathing) and a bit of heat. Nice medium long finish - a great food wine.
