Lailey Vineyard Impromptu 2010, VQA Niagara River
Red Blend
Ontario, Canada
$44.95 (147009)
This is Lailey Vineyards flagship red that is only made in exceptional vintages, which 2010 was for reds in Niagara. Predominantly Syrah (75%), with equal parts Malbec and fragrant Petit Verdot, come together in this enticing package. Ripe, with fine supple tannins and balanced acidity, this is a fine and elegant medium-bodied wine. Can be drunk now or kept for 5 to 7 years. Just shy of perfect. This is one of the best Niagara Red blends ever made... without a doubt. Huge structure and complexities frame this powerful wine. Just goes to show you, with the right wine maker, soil, and weather, Niagara can seriously produce world class wine. This was my Favourite wine of 2013. Watch the video on Niagara Wine Videos.

The 2010 blend of Syrah, Malbec, and Petit Verdot is not to be missed. The complex nose of smoke, sage, earth, pepper, dark cherry and vibrant red fruit is supported by a lovely texture of tannin and acid that says this wine could lay in your cellar for a few years and be even better than it is now.
