This is a big wine in every way. Blueberry, plum, meat, smoke and violet notes on the nose. The palate meets the intensity and depth of the nose head-on, with powerfully presented replays. The focused intensity of flavour is offset wonderfully by the easy-drinking and smoothly textured style of the wine. Soft, round and so tasty. This is a fun wine and perfect for grilled steak or sausages. (VINTAGES panel, Sept. 2012)Critic Reviews (2)

Shows some of the herbal, spicey, earthy notes that one associates with reds from the Cotes du Rhone. On the other hand, there are slightly sweet, confected notes as well belaying its Cali roots. Oak is notable, though I didn't fine it overpowering. While not quite my style of wine, this was still quite enjoyable both on its own and especially with BBQ'd fare. Fans of the style with surely enjoy this. Tasted Aug 2013.
