Batasiolo has a long reputation of producing good value entry level Barolo. The wine is usually approachable with a good dollop of succulent fruit. For those looking for a casual glass of Nebbiolo on Tuesday (which should be all of you) this is a reliable bottle from vintage to vintage. The 2009 comes off as just a little shy with fruit, allowing the tannins to dominate the palate right now. Next Tuesday night its best to grab a little prosciutto and Grana Padano to help tuck in the tannins. Enjoy your evening.
