This is decent value in rustic Southern Italian aglianico that should appeal to pinot fans. Fairly pale in colour,...

Firm, intense dry red, with notes of slightly tart cranberries, earth and slightly oxidative notes. I also detected a faint touch of bandaid on first sniff, though it seemed to disappear within a few minutes. Finishes with tart acidity and firm tannin. Agree with JS, this wine would benefit from decanting...or a few years in bottle. In any case, a fine, distinctive aglianco. Tasted Dec 2013. Re-tastied Oct 2014, notes are consistent except the wine seems a bit more mellow...upgrading to 90pts. Excellent!
Classic Italian wine that comes from a region south of Naples, Italy. Very impressive wine for the price. Will get better after some decanting. Tasted December 2013.
Great producer of both whites and reds from Southern Italy. This is textbook Aglianico - medium bodied with herbs, smoked cherries, black licorice, burnt rubber and black pepper. High acid ads a little nip to the finish. Nice structure throughout.
