This is a fresh, youthful if skinny young Fronsac from a cooler year. I never expect charm from this appellation, but...

100% Merlot. Plummy and black cherry aromas from the cork. Medium intensity aromas from the glass showing plum, blackberry, sour cherry, black spices, soft cedar vanilla oak, mineral and hints of cocoa notes. It's medium-bodied on the palate with tart red berry and mineral/iodine flavours. Has good acids, fairly rounded but gritty tannins. Good length on the cocoa-tinged finish. Tasted Nov/2015.

Relatively simple, and more appealing on the nose than the palate. Aromas of plum, cherry, raspberry, cedar, vanilla, green bell pepper, and a bit of baking spice. The fruit is more like tart cherries, cranberries, and under ripe raspberries on the palate, with some cedar, green bell pepper, and a vague woodiness coming through. Gives a bit of a coarse impression with high, tart acidity and slightly rough tannins. Medium body and length. Pair with simple and/or slightly tough cuts of red meat.
