This elegant, expressive left-bank Bordeaux definitely needs a good hour in the decanter before it opens up. It is by no means huge or super tannic, as Graves is generally one of the lighter left-bank wines, due to a (usually) higher percentage of merlot in the blend. It shows very good concentration of dried cherry, blackberry, and cassis, with sweet black olive, menthol, pencil shavings, tobacco, leather, licorice, cocoa, forest floor, clove, and a touch of vanilla and mushroom. The acidity is fresh, and the tannins are quite soft at this point. It is probably drinking at it's peak right now. Tasted Nov. 2016.
