A venture owned by AXA Millésimes, famous for Quinta do Noval and Chateau Pichon Baron. This is a blend of Syrah and Grenache, but to me, it is the Syrah that takes center stage. Blackberry fruit, bolstered by smoky notes, black pepper and garrigue, Oak is seamlessly integrated, and, despite 14.5% abv, there is little excessive heat. Complex and long finishing, this is clearly a wine made with great care to express the local terroir, Really excellent. Tasted Dec 2017.
