Noval Fine Tawny Port
Port
Douro, Portugal
$8.85 (309765)
This is a lively, elegant, effortless and smooth tawny. The nose exudes over-ripened/dried cherries, dates, milk chocolate and some dried wood spice. It is medium bodied (not at all thick) very sweet with some alcohol heat, wood tannin and fresh acidity. The length is very good but there is a sense of wanting more. A well balanced & smooth Tawny/port for under $20 that you can describe as either a lighter style port or a more red fruit tawny
Positives: This wine features dried figs, Christmas cake, maraschino cherry in dark chocolate, Kirsch and roasted almonds. Full body with low tannins, good acidity and a fairly long length.
