Exchange Wine Club SubscriptionNebbiolo is a red grape originally found in Piedmont Italy, but is now also grown in small amounts in many other regions of the world. This grape is notably used to make Barbaresco and Barolo wines, but it is also used in other northern Italian appellations like Gattinara, Valtellina and Carema. Wines bearing the varietal name on the label, as opposed to an appellation like Barolo, tend to be simpler, lighter and younger-drinking, but always featuring the typical aromas of cherry, roses and spices of nebbiolo, as well as its significant acidity and tannins.
