Chablis

Chablis is a white wine made from chardonnay grapes. It takes its name from the region of the same name in the northwest corner of Bourgogne (Burgundy) in France. The wines are typically less fruity than other chardonnays due to the cooler climate in the region. There is often a "flinty" or "steely" note to these wines. A racy, green apple-like acidity is a trademark of the wines and can be noticeable in the bouquet. Oak influence is generally low to none at all. There are 40 Premier Cru vineyards and 7 Grand Cru vineyards in the region.
